As the leaves turn golden and the air takes on a crisp edge, St. Augustine, Florida, transforms into a haven for autumn enthusiasts. With its rich history, scenic beauty, and vibrant community, this charming city offers a myriad of activities to savor the season. Here are some of our favorite ways to embrace fall in St. Augustine.
1. Historic Haunts and Ghost Tours
As the oldest city in the United States, St. Augustine is steeped in history and folklore. Embark on a ghost tour through the cobblestone streets, where costumed guides recount chilling tales of the city’s past. With the backdrop of centuries-old architecture, it’s an immersive way to experience the spirit of the season. I personally have done the Ghosts and Gravestones tour, which was a lot of fun and very interesting!

2. Pumpkin Picking at Local Farms
Nothing says fall like a trip to the pumpkin patch. Several farms around St. Augustine offer not only pumpkins but also a host of seasonal activities. Enjoy hayrides, corn mazes, and maybe even a cup of warm apple cider as you pick the perfect pumpkin for carving or decorating.

3. Community Trick or Treat Festivals
Bring the kids for some fun, and candy! Enjoy this free tradition on the last weekend in October with two opportunities to dress up and join in the festivities. The kids get out of the house for some fun, and you get to take in all St. Augustine in the fall has to offer – it’s a win-win! Here are links to these two great events: 4th Annual Trick-or-Treat Harvest Festival and Trick or Treating on St. George Street
4. Beachcombing and Coastal Walks
While St. Augustine is renowned for its historic sites, it also boasts stunning coastal beauty. Take a leisurely stroll along the beaches, where the crisp autumn breeze mingles with the soothing sound of waves. It’s a serene way to enjoy the season and experience the natural wonders of Northeast Florida.

7. Festive Culinary Adventures
Indulge in the flavors of fall at St. Augustine’s local eateries. From pumpkin-spiced treats to hearty autumn-inspired dishes, the city’s diverse culinary scene has something to satisfy every palate.
Off the beaten path is one of my favorite local bakeries – Crème de la Cocoa. Just typing this, I started craving them lol. They have some of the best seasonal treats, and I consider this a MUST STOP.
8. Waterfront Sunset Views
As the sun sets earlier in the fall, take advantage of the stunning views along the Matanzas Bay. Enjoy a leisurely stroll on the waterfront or savor a meal at one of the many restaurants with scenic bay views.
Some of my favorite Bayfront restaurants:
Meehans – You can sit on the upstairs balcony for a stunning view of the water
Harry’s Seafood – This restaurant has a stunning outdoors seating area. Although you don’t have a direct view of the water while you eat, you won’t leave disappointed!
Sainte George Restaurant – This restaurant is on St. George, but has a great view of the water and Fort from their second floor balcony.
